ONE SOURCE, SUPPLIED WORLDWIDE.

“Crated stock for a merchant yard, calibrated paving for a landscape contract, carved stone for a facade, or full container loads for overseas distribution. Whatever the scale, the stone comes from the same source and passes through the same hands.”

Our Mint Sandstone comes from a 250-acre quarry reserve in the Gwalior region of Madhya Pradesh. From the same deposit we grade two selections: the clean, pale White Mint and the warmer Fossil Mint with its natural markings. Extraction, block selection, cutting, finishing and packing are all handled by our own team, which is how we keep quality consistent from one shipment to the next and price fairly for trade buyers.

LAYING • CARE

LAY IT RIGHT, KEEP IT LIGHT.

A pale stone shows its best when it is laid well and sealed early. The same steps apply to White Mint and Fossil Mint.

Laying
  • Lay on a compacted sub-base with a full wet mortar bed, in line with BS 7533.
  • Use 22 mm for patios and paths, 30 mm or cobbles for driveways.
  • Prime the back of each slab to stop staining coming up from the bed.
  • Keep joints even and fill with a suitable jointing compound.
  • Blend slabs from several crates as you lay, for an even spread of tone.
Care
  • Seal after installation to protect against leaf tannins, oil and wine.
  • Sweep regularly to clear leaves and grit.
  • Wash with mild soapy water and a soft brush.
  • Avoid harsh acids and strong bleach.
  • Use a pressure washer only on a low setting, held at a distance.
FAQ

MINT SANDSTONE,
ANSWERED.

Common questions from architects, merchants and importers. Anything else, ask us through the enquiry form.

What is Mint Sandstone?

Mint Sandstone is a fine-grained, silica-rich natural sandstone quarried in the Gwalior region of Madhya Pradesh, India. It has a pale ivory to cream base with soft warm tones, low water absorption and high crushing strength, which makes it suitable for paving, walling, steps, cobbles and carved architectural work.

Is Mint Sandstone green?

No. Despite the name, Mint Sandstone is a light ivory, cream and beige stone. The name refers to the trade grade, not the colour.

What is the difference between White Mint and Fossil Mint?

Both come from the same deposit. White Mint (also sold as Gwalior Mint) is the cleanest, palest selection with minimal variation. Fossil Mint has warmer buff tones and natural fossil-like markings. Performance and durability are the same; the difference is appearance.

Where does SNK Surfaces quarry Mint Sandstone?

From a 250-acre quarry reserve that SNK Surfaces owns and operates in the Gwalior region of Madhya Pradesh, India. Extraction, block selection, cutting, finishing and packing are all handled by our own team.

Which finishes are available?

Six standard finishes: honed, shotblast, sandblast, brushed, flamed and antique. Custom finishes can be produced on request.

What products do you supply in Mint Sandstone?

Patio packs and paving, kerbstones, steps and copings, walling and bricks, cobbles including herringbone setts, and architectural or bespoke elements such as columns, CNC-carved panels and cut-to-size cladding.

Do you export Mint Sandstone?

Yes. We supply Mint Sandstone to customers in more than 35 countries across Europe, the Middle East, North America, Asia-Pacific and Africa, in full container loads as well as crated project quantities.

Can I get samples before ordering?

Yes. Samples are available on request. Send us your requirement through the enquiry form and we will arrange samples along with sizes, finishes, lead times and pricing.

How is Mint Sandstone shipped and how long does it take?

In 20 ft or 40 ft containers from Mundra Port, India. Production usually takes 15 to 45 days and sea freight around 22 to 30 days to the UK and Ireland, so allow 6 to 10 weeks in total. We ship to the port of your choice.

What is the minimum order?

Orders are quoted per container load, and part or mixed loads are available. A 20 ft container holds up to 550 m² of 22 mm calibrated paving.

Is Mint Sandstone slippery when wet?

Our sandstone reaches a wet PTV of 36 or more, which the HSE rates as low slip risk. Textured finishes such as riven, shotblast and flamed give the best grip near pools and steps.
